Mark Kargela, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

CEO, Founder, Lead Instructor Practical Pain Science

Dr Mark Kargela received his Masters in Science of Physical Therapy from Grand Valley State University in 2003. He later went on to obtain his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine in 2009. He gained his Orthopedic Clinical Specialization in 2008 and completed a fellowship in orthopedic manual physical therapy in 2012 from Evidence in Motion. He has taught continuing education coursework to physical therapists around the country within Evidence in Motion’s fellowship program and continuing education courses up until 2016.

In his current role, he provides physical therapy services and supervises Midwestern University’s Physical Therapy Institute, a university-based clinic setting, where he practices general orthopedics with special interest in spine and persistent pain conditions and mentors students in the clinic. In addition to his work at Midwestern University, Arizona, Mark also has been regular lecturer at Phoenix-area universities and continues to serve in an adjunct faculty role at Franklin Pierce University where he teaches a course in pain science.

He lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Mallory who is a professor in physical therapy at Midwestern University, his daughter Evelyn, and his dog Max. If you do not find him nerding out on pain you will find him with his wife at concerts, in search of the their next favorite foodie destination, running, or hiking.

Jarod Hall, PT, DPT, OCS

Partner, Lead Instructor Practical Pain Science

 

Jarod Hall, PT, DPT, OCS, CSCS is a physical therapist in Fort Worth, TX. His clinical focus is orthopedics with an emphasis on therapeutic neuroscience education and purposeful implementation of foundational principles of exercise in the management of both chronic pain and athletic injuries. Jarod has shown clinical excellence in securing designation as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). He is also adjunct assistant faculty at the UNTHSC DPT program, instructing in the assessment and treatment of orthopedic injuries, pain sciences, and manual therapy.

Dr. Hall regularly presents continuing education at the state and national level for practicing physical therapists, occupational therapists, and chiropractors. Additionally, Dr. Hall is an internationally recognized blogger, and lecturer whose work has focused on how to succeed in the clinical environment while applying modern pain science to exercise and manual therapy, debunking common exercise and rehab myths, mechanisms of manual therapy, and appropriate dosing of therapeutic exercise.

Marcos Lopez, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT

Lead Instructor Online Curriculum

Dr. Marcos Lopez PT, is a Physical Therapist in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from the orthopedic
physical therapy residency program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2014 and
is a board certified orthopedic clinical specialist. He completed the Therapeutic Pain Specialist program
through International Spine and Pain Institute in the Fall of 2016. He graduated Evidence in
Motions Fellowship in Manual Physical Therapy program in 2019. He currently lectures the pain neuroscience
curriculum to the UTSW DPT and orthopedic physical therapy residency programs. Dr. Lopez regularly
speaks at local meetings and the Texas annual conference regarding integrating pain neuroscience into
clinical practice. Additionally, his clinical practice focuses on integrating a graded motor imagery
approach to patients with musculoskeletal pain.

Cory Blickenstaff, PT, MS, OCS

Cory Blickenstaff is co-host of the Pain Science and Sensibility Podcast. After completing a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Indianapolis he went on to graduate from the University of Indianapolis’ Krannert School of Physical Therapy in 2001. He is a board certified specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy (OCS) and has also achieved getting his picture on the wall of several upstanding establishments for his ability to eat abnormally large burgers.

Cory works in a private practice in Vancouver, WA. He has presented nationally on topics related to treating pain as well as work site industrial care delivery models. He authored the monograph on work injury prevention and management in the APTA home study course “The Injured Worker.” Cory is also active on social media discussing and debating current practice issues and applications and occasionally writes on the Leaps and Bounds blog.

 

Roderick Henderson, PT, DSc, OCS, CSCS

Roderick is an expert clinician and strength coach who strives for all of his patients to get more out of life through movement and exercise.

After practicing and coaching for over 20 years, he has branched out of traditional outpatient physical therapy to help people learn how to complete their recovery and get back to doing the things they love.

His approach to rehabilitation, exercise, and healthy living is simple and scientific. He has worked with a wide range of athletes including runners, triathletes, CrossFitters, weightlifters, dancers, and professional athletes.

More specifically, he uses the perfect blend of science, teaching, and coaching that will put you in the best place to succeed.  He practices respect, honesty, and sometimes a bit of tough love to keep you heading in the right direction.

Rod lives just east of Houston, Texas with his beautiful wife and daughter, six dogs, and five chickens.
